The AHL's landscape continues to evolve as teams bid farewell to players and welcome new faces ahead of the 2024-25 season.

The latest shift comes from the Vancouver Canucks organization, particularly their AHL affiliate in Abbotsford, which is set to lose another key player. After the recent departures of Nick Cecik and Matt Irwin to free agency, another former Canucks prospect, Chad Nychuk, has found a new home.

The Milwaukee Admirals, the AHL affiliate of the Nashville Predators, took to X this Tuesday to announce a significant acquisition. The team has secured a deal with Chad Nychuk, who was among the unrestricted free agents after his stint with Abbotsford.

The Ads announced today that the team has signed defenseman Chad Nychuk to a one-year, two-way (AHL/ECHL) contract. The team said in a statement.

Chad Nychuk, at 23, brings a wealth of experience from his time in the Western Hockey League, where he played four seasons with the Brandon Wheat Kings before joining the Canucks organization. Initially signing a one-year AHL deal with Abbotsford in 2022, he was re-signed for the 2023-24 season. Throughout his tenure, Nychuk proved his mettle both in the AHL and the ECHL. In his last AHL season, he tallied three points, including two goals, over 13 games, maintaining an even-rating and accruing 12 penalty minutes. His ECHL record is equally notable, with 12 points in 24 games and an impressive playoff performance, where he added three points in just four games.

Nychuk's move to the Milwaukee Admirals is poised to bolster their defensive lineup, offering both experience and a knack for critical plays both in the AHL and ECHL circuits. His ability to perform under pressure will be invaluable, especially in clutch playoff scenarios.

This transition marks not just a new chapter for Nychuk but also highlights the fluid dynamics of AHL team rosters, continually adapting and reshaping in response to the ebb and flow of player movements within the league.
