Jeff Marek has officially addressed the swirling rumours about his future at Sportsnet.
On Friday, Marek broke his silence, confirming his departure after a sudden absence from Sportsnet's programming.
Marek's mysterious disappearance began during Sportsnet's draft coverage, where he was notably absent after the first round in late June.

Elliotte Friedman did not release their anticipated «32 Thoughts» podcast episode to discuss the opening day of free agency. His inactivity on social media further fueled speculation.
YYZ Sports Media reported that Marek will no longer be part of Sportsnet, indicating the end of "The Jeff Marek Show" and his co-hosting role on "32 Thoughts."
On Friday afternoon, Marek finally addressed the rumours with a heartfelt statement on social media:
"Firstly, thanks for the outpouring of kind words on Twitter/X. It really means the world to me," said Marek. "After 13 great years at Sportsnet, I'm moving on. It's been an incredible journey and I'm thankful to have worked alongside so many great people and played a role in bringing sports and hockey news to fans across Canada and the world. More to come soon."
With Sportsnet's rights to national coverage nearing expiration, speculation is rife that TSN and Bell Media might pursue Marek to strengthen their hockey coverage and possibly reclaim national broadcasting rights. The reasons behind Marek's departure remain unclear, but further details are expected to emerge in the coming days.
Stay tuned as we follow this developing story and the potential impacts on the sports media landscape.
