During last night's Game 5 against the LA Kings, Edmonton Oilers forward Warren Foegele was caught with his head down, and Kings defenseman Drew Doughty took advantage of the situation by delivering a massive hit that left Foegele shaken up. However, many fans and analysts believe that the hit was dirty and should have been penalized.
One of the main reasons why this hit is being scrutinized is because Doughty visibly left his feet to hit Foegele, which is an illegal move in the NHL. While Foegele did leave himself vulnerable, Doughty's actions were reckless and dangerous, and the league needs to take a closer look at this play.
In a sport as physical as hockey, it is important for players to play hard but also to play fair. The NHL must continue to enforce the rules and protect the safety of its players both on and off the ice.
