Kyle Dubas Tried To Steal Edmonton's Trade Target at The Deadline
The NHL trade deadline is always a busy time for general managers, and this year was no different. Kyle Dubas, the General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, was one of the busiest GMs in the league, making several moves to bolster his team's roster.
Among the players Dubas acquired were Erik Gustafsson, Sam Lafferty, Jake McCabe, Noel Acciari, Luke Schenn, and Ryan O'Reilly from the St Louis Blues. However, according to Sportsnet's Hockey Insider Elliotte Friedman, Dubas wanted to acquire another defenseman.
Elliotte Friedman reported that Dubas had attempted to acquire Mattias Ekholm and Erik Karlsson.
He was not able to land either one of them because of their high salaries.
Ekholm is a great addition to the Oilers and were thankful he landed in Edmonton instead of Toronto.
