The speculative news first broke from Oilers Insider Tony Brar a few minutes ago, but upon further digging, Sportsnet has confirmed that McDavid will officially be back tonight.
As per Sportnset, McDavid has been out since last Monday after suffering the injury in a game against the 6-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets. He returned to practice for the first time this past Monday to participate in an optional skate.
Although it was initially stated that McDavid wouldn't return to the ice for 2-3 weeks, he's made a miraculous recovery and will be slotting in tonight for the Oilers.
Connor McDavid was been having a decent season in respect to his overall abilities, notching 10 points through 10 regular season games thus far.
Connor McDavid also hired his own medical team in order to help expedite his recovery from injury. Although the biggest concern was a high ankle sprain, it's clear that McDavid's injury wasn't as serious as expected.
Although the general consensus from fans on social media has been for McDavid to rest out a little longer to ensure a full recovery, McDavid has no intention of sitting out.
After being shutout by 3-0 by the New Jersey Devils on Monday, the Oilers will hopefully get a surge of offence generated by the return of their captain.
