Dylan Holloway in stable condition after horrific incident
As the hockey world continues to hold their breath concerning former Edmonton Oilers forward Dylan Holloway, the NHL reveals the young forward is in stable, alert condition.
According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, Holloway was trying to block a routine point shot that instead rode up and made direct contact with his neck. He didn't immediately seem to have a bad reaction, but his condition deteriorated soon on after. Seemingly on the bench, Holloway collapsed on his side and needed to be held up by his teammates.
Dylan Holloway left Tuesday's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first period and did not return.
Holloway was transported to the hospital for continued monitoring and was alert and in currently stable condition.
His parents were also in attendance for the game. One can imagine how terrifying it must have been for them to witness their son collapse on the bench. Thankfully for Dylan, they are currently at his side as the NHL awaits for further medical updates.
"I think the only way I can put it to you guys (the media) is if you're at work, you get a call that one of your family members is sick and rushed to the hospital," Blues Head Coach Drew Bannister said of his perspective of the injury from the bench. "Holly is a family member. That was a tough. I thought we, as a group, showed a lot of fortitude mentally being able to push through that... We were able to get updates on Holly and kind of put our minds at ease a little bit, and we focused ourselves.
"From what we've heard, he's doing well. It's a good sign."
The game of hockey can be unpredictable, presenting some life threatening situations at times. His delayed reaction to the injury was definitely concerning, causing a frenzy of panic amongst fans in attendance.
The good news is, Dylan Holloway is stable, alert, and is comforted by the presence of his mom and dad.
