Breaking news in Oil Country as an extremely scary scene has just unfolded concerning former Edmonton Oilers forward Dylan Holloway

According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, Holloway was trying to block a routine point shot that instead rode up and made direct contact with his neck. He didn't immediately seem to have a bad reaction, but his condition deteriorated soon on after. Seemingly on the bench, Holloway collapsed on his side and needed to be held up by his teammates.

Although the severity of the injury is yet to be announced, Holloway was stretchered off the ice and is currently being taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

The St. Louis Blues are currently taking on the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight, currently up 2-1 heading into the third period.

Holloway was in the first season with the St. Louis Blues after joining the team on an offer sheet last offseason. Holloway had played his entire career previously with the Edmonton Oilers. In his first 12 games with the Blues the 23 year old forward has made good on the new contract, scoring 4 goals and 6 points.

This is an extremely scary situation for the young forward and the St. Louis Blues. this incident comes just days after Philip Broberg was escorted off the ice for a lower body injury suffered against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Dylan Holloway has been playing extremely well for the St. Louis Blues so far, notching 6 points in just 12 games this season.

Oilers Insider will be keeping close tabs on the situation pending more health status updates.
