It's no secret by now that team team took a massive hit during the NHL offseason, losing the likes of Philip Broberg, Cody Ceci, and Philip Broberg.
Although the Oilers managed to bring in a few other defensive assets to recover what was lost over the offseason, the Oilers are still severely struggling on the backend. As it stands, Almost nothing has worked as the Oilers have cycled players on and off Darnell Nurse's pairing.
According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, Oilers defenceman Darnell Nurse has struggled to live up to his $9.25M contract since signing the massive deal, and the stats haven't been too kind to him so far this season.
Darnell Nurse has been on the ice for nearly 50% of goals scored against - absolutely unacceptable for a player nearly being paid $10 million AAV per season.
As the season continues to ramp up, it becomes increasingly clear the Edmonton Oilers must find a way to acquire a top-4 defenceman at some point. Last season in the playoffs, Nurse set the record for worst plus minus in history - absolutely mind blowing.
