According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, The Edmonton Oilers are just three weeks away from the ten year anniversary of hiring goalie coach Dustin Schwartz, still with the organization despite so many calls to be fired.
Despite Dustin Schwartz reaching the 10 year milestone, I think it's safe to say that the Edmonton Oilers have struggled between the pipes since Schwartz's emergence in 2014.
From Devan Dubnyk, Cam Talbot, Mike Smith, and Stuart Skinner, all of them seemed to have below average performances under Schwartz's guidance.
Year after year, the Oilers goaltenders seem to have a steady decline in their save percentages, and the only goalie who seemed to be immune from this phenomenon was Mike Smith.
For years, fans have been calling for a change, but Oilers executives seem adamant that Dustin Schwartz is the perfect man for the job.
Stuart Skinner took the Edmonton Oilers all the way to game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals last year, and there has been some conversation stating that the legendary cup run ultimately saved Schwartz's job.
With that being said, the Oilers find themselves struggling yet again between the pipes, and fans are once again sounding like a broken record, calling for a new voice to lead the Oilers net-minders.
Although it seems highly unlikely a change will ever happen, I think the Oilers would benefit from a coaching change,
