As we await the debut of the highly anticipated NHL season, Oilers Insider takes a look at some of the more iconic moments in recent years.

I think you would be remise not to remember this legendary game. February 1st, 2020 proved to be one of the most epic BOA's (battle of Alberta) fans have seen since the late 80's. The stage was set by former Calgary Flames forward Matthew Tkachuk, relating back to his previous beef with former Oilers forward Zack Kassian.

It happened late in the second period of a game that night between the two clubs. Tkachuk had already caught Kassian earlier in the game with a big hit, and after the second one, Kassian was having none of it. He had jumped up and started throwing punches with Tkachuk famously turtling.

Mike Smith, meanwhile, was waiting at center ice staring down Talbot prompting the two to fight in a night that will forever live on in the storied rivalry between the two teams.

The events that unfolded cemented the most iconic game fans have had the privilege of witnessing in years. Respect to Talbot for answering the bell knowing that he'd probably be on the losing end of the fight. If not for Darnell Nurse, the goalie fight that got everyone hyped up might not have even happened. Mike Smith definitely got the better of Talbot.
