The highly anticipated NHL preseason is now well underway, but GM's across the league are still looking for some last minuet trade idea's to bolster their clubs.

Former Edmonton Oilers Jesse Puljujarvi is having a strong start to the preseason. I think it's important to emphasize that the regular season hasn't even started yet, and much of what happens won't matter in a few weeks time.

But with that in mind, Jesse Puljujarvi AKA The Bison King has been on a mission for the Pittsburgh Penguins. During their first preseason matchup against the Buffalo Sabres, Jesse notched a hat-trick, demonstrating an eagerness to prove the NHL he's been ready. Although he's performing well, he's still a long shot to regarding a roster spot with the Pens.

According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, Analyst Kevin Papetti with the Athletic suggested Jesse Puljujarvi being traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs could be a possibility, with defenceman Connor Timmins going in return.

The suggestion likely comes from the fact that the Penguins are in need of a depth defenceman, but have a bit of a log-jam at the forward position. At the moment, Puljujarvi likely would be a healthy scratch or a fourth liner. In addition, Penguins GM Kyle Dubas has a long history with Connor Timmins and clearly believes in the player.

The Leafs have plenty of room to add a bottom six winger, and GM Brad Treliving has surely seen plenty of Puljujarvi through the years. If he believes Puljujarvi could be an asset in the Leafs bottom six, it wouldn't cost more than a depth defenceman Treliving inherited from the previous regime.

Although a solidified roster spot on an NHL team is the primary goal for Jesse Puljujarvi, there is growing concern that he would not do well in the Maple Leafs Market. Jesse Puljujarvi proved to crumble under pressure in regards to his time with the Oilers, and the fan pressure to produce results in Toronto would be twice that of Edmonton.

The Edmonton Oilers selected Jesse Puljujarvi fourth overall in the 2016 Draft, but struggled heavily with confidence and consistency. As much as I want to see the Bison King succeed, GM Brad Treliving should stay well clear of Puljujarvi.
