Jaromir Jagr continues to impress at age 52
Jaromir continues to impress hockey fans around the world as he scored an impressive goal for the Kladno Nights yesterday.
The Athletic's Rob Rossi reported Thursday that Jagr said he plans to retire after the 2024-25 Czech Extraliga season in a phone interview.
Jagr is currently playing with his hometown team the Kladno Knights, (which he also owns). Rytři Kladno is a Czech professional ice hockey team based in the city of Kladno. They are currently a member of the Czech Extraliga.
Although Jagr hints that this will be his last season of pro hockey, that didn't stop the legend from doing legendary things during Kladno's home opener.
Even at the age of 52, Jagr is still showing the hockey world he's fully capable of playing at a high level, notching the first goal of the season for his team.
According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, Turning 53 years old later this season, Jagr showed some real skill for his age on this goal. It's unbelievable that he's still playing professionally, and even more so that he's actually still good. That's just the same as Jagr was in his NHL career though, memorably scoring 27 goals with the Florida Panthers when he was 44 years old.
Unfortunately, Father Time is undefeated. Earlier this week, Jagr's agent made a statement confirming that this season with the Kladno Knights will be his last year before retirement. Jagr has played the last 7 years for the Kladno Knighgs, the team that he owns, and he'll still surely be a figure around the team.
