With that being said, reporters like Mark Spector have been pushing the panic button on the Oilers preseason, hinting that the Oilers might be in for another rough start due to the teams lacklustre performance over the last few weeks.
With that being said, Edmonton Oilers superstar Leon Draisaitl seems to be unfazed by the media's frantic review of the preseason.
Draisaitl's comments are exactly what you would expect. The Oilers are not exactly coming off a Stanley Cup hangover, but pretty darn close. I imagine it's not exactly easy transitioning from game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals to meaningless weekday preseason games. The whole point of the NHL preseason is to get the muscles moving, while simultaneously shaking off the rust from the offseason. The Oilers will be fine.
According to Ryan Hall form Oilers Daily, Draisatil himself had an eventful summer as he committed his career to the Oilers with an 8-year contract extension worth $112 million holding a cap hit of $14 million per year. With his contract out of the way, he now has a chance to just play the game he loves and help push the Oilers to their goal of winning the Stanley Cup.
The Oilers will look to put the dreaded preseason behind them as they take on the Winnipeg Jets for the annual preseason opener tomorrow night.
