Cam Wright, 26, is coming off his first full AHL season with the Bakersfield Condors. During the 2023-24 campaign, Wright had a respectable season, appearing in 48 games and notching 12 goals with nine assists.
According to the NHL, Prior to joining the Condors, the Newmarket, Ont. product suited up with the ECHL's Utah Grizzlies during the 2022-23 season, leading the team in scoring with 63 points (29 goals, 34 assists) in 64 games.
In other related Oilers news, the team has also re-called Matthew Savoie from the Bakersfield Condors and has been added to the opening night roster.
Matthew Savoie was traded to the Edmonton Oilers in a blockbuster exchange for Ryan McLeod and Tyler Tullio. Although Matthew Savoie had a relatively quiet training camp, he was a standout during the Young Stars classic tournament in Penticton, BC.
Savoie is a top 10 draft pick selected by the Buffalo Sabres back in 2022. According to Oilers Insider Jason Gregor, Matthew Savoie's call up from the minors is strictly cap related.
Oilers star sniper Evander Kane is expected to be placed on LTIR after recently completing surgery in order to repair a sports hernia and multiple torn muscles. With that being said, having Savoie listed on the opening day roster gives the team more cap space if they go into LTIR.
If they are in LTIR and Savoie is recalled, he'd only count at $886,666K rather than $1,886,666, ultimately giving the team a little more breathing room.
