It was recently announced that Leon Draisaitl signed re-signed with the Edmonton Oilers.

The deal will carry an average annual value of $14 million for Draisaitl, who was entering the final season of his deal at a cap hit of $8.5 million, making him the highest paid modern day NHL player in history.

Leon Draisaitl says he wants to be an «Oiler for life.» «I have a hard time picturing myself in a different jersey,» said Draisaitl, who scored 41 goals and added 65 assists for 106 points in 81 regular-season games last season.

After signing another eight year contract extension with the Oilers, it would appear that Leon Draisaitl is remaining and Edmonton Oiler for life.

After the announcement was made final, Stan Bowman took to the stand and touched on the significance of Leon as a player, and what he means to the Oilers organization

«Players like Leon are special.» said Bowman. «There's not many people in the world who can play hockey like he does. There's no way we can ever replace what Leon brings to the table. He's a huge part of our team; he has been and will continue to be.»

Draisaitl has his eyes set on getting back into the post-season where hopefully he will be able to notch his first ever Stanley Cup.
