Well folks, the hockey world is slowly gearing up for the 4 nations cup, and hockey enthusiasts around the globe are keeping close tabs to see which players make the cut for their respective countries. The tournament is set to go down from February 12-20th, 2025.
Daily Face Off, a highly respected online hockey resource update their projected Team Canada roster, and Edmonton Oilers net minder Stuart Skinner finds himself on the sideline. As of now, Daily Face off lists Canada's goalies to be Adin Hill, Jordan Binnington, and Logan Thompson.
Let's get real - as disappointing as this may be for Oilers fans, Stuart Skinner has failed to demonstrate that he's ready to represent Canada at the international level. Skinner's biggest issue so far has been consistency, struggling to maintain any sort of traction in the early stages of the 2024-25 season.
As it stands, three members of the Edmonton Oilers have been listed on the projected roster so far. The names include Connor McDavid, Zach Hyman, and Evan Bouchard. Before the start of the regular season, Stuart Skinner was essentially a lock to make Team Canada, which would have sent an astounding four members of the Oilers organization to the 4 Nations Cup.
Although the roster isn't exactly set in stone yet, Stuart Skinner still has time to makeup for his below average play this season. Personally, I really like Stuart Skinner as a goaltender. He's proven capable to switch on his game during crucial moments, which was on full display during the Stanley Cup Final. Who knows? Perhaps another 16 game winning streak could help get him back on the projected roster.
