The Edmonton Oilers could be looking at acquiring this 4th line grinder
The waiver wire in the NHL continues to flood with interesting names, and the Edmonton Oilers could be in a prime position to add some meat to their roster.
According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, Standing at 6'1 and 215 pounds, Lemieux is known for staring problems from the fourth line with his hitting, fighting, and generally getting underneath the skin of his opponent. Drafted in the second round by the Buffalo Sabres in 2014, Lemieux has gone on to play 307 career games with 5 different teams. His career best year may have come with the New York Rangers in 2019-20, registering 18 points and 111 penalty minutes.
The Oilers recently played a thrilling matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers, earning their very first victory of the 2024-2025 season. The game was highly entertaining one, with two Edmonton Oilers players being involved in some spirited tilts which is great to see.
Despite the team showing some heart, it's clear that the team is lacking a clear cut enforcer. With Evander Kane now out of the lineup, the Oilers shouldn't be relying on 39 year old Corey Perry to drop the gloves every time things start to get nasty.
Brendan Lemieux would be an absolute value deal which would subsequently add some muscle to the team. Fans all over social media are urging GM Stan Bowman to make this happen.
