The Edmonton Oilers hire Zack Kassian as a pro scout

Breaking news in Oil Country as Oilers insider Jim Matheson announces that former beloved Oilers forward Zack Kassian has been hired by the team.

According to Matheson, The Edmonton Oilers have added Zack Kassian to their staff. Kassian will be serving as a pro scout for the team. The former Oilers forward currently resides in Ontario.

Although the details of his hire remain unclear, Zack Kassian will be part of the Oilers organization by helping seek out the next generation of hockey talent. Currently residing in Ontario, the speculation is he will be serving as a CHL scout, primarily in the OHL (Ontario Hockey League). But more details will be provided as soon as possible.

According to Mark Spector, Kassian will be working in Windsor alongside prominent pro scout Warren Rychel to learn all the tricks of the trade.

Kassian was originally the 13th overall selection in the 2009 National Hockey Leaguedraft to the Buffalo Sabres, where he would spend 27 games in 2011-12, scoring three goals and seven points before being traded to the Canucks.

After four years on Canada's West Coast, he was traded to the Canadiens in July of 2015, ultimately resulting in his tenure with the Oilers. Kassian scored 55 goals and 135 points with the Oilers across 412 games, which added to his 12 years in the NHL, where he scored 92 goals and 203 points.
