The Edmonton Oilers made plenty of big splashes during the NHL offseason. The organization was able to lock down two elite top 6 forwards regarding Viktor Arvidsson and Jeff Skinner, in addition to re-signing their entire third line.
Adam Henrique, Connor Brown, and Mattias Janmark were all Oilers players who were up for grabs during the offseason.
Adam Henrique signed a two-year, $6 million contract, Mattias Janmark signed a three-year contract extension with an average annual value $1.45 million, and Connor Brown to a one-year contract with an average annual value of $1 million. All three will be heavily relied on the Oilers third line.
According to the Edmonton Journal, all 3 players had different options, but it all came down to a group consensus decision on their group chat.
The three of them are back together, skating as a line in training camp and the familiar chirping between Janmark on one side and Brown on the other picked up right where it left off last season.
Although the decision to re-sign in Edmonton via group is quite hilarious, it just goes to show the major culture shift that has occurred on the team. Edmonton is not known for its beaches or tropical weather, but players know they can win here, and that's huge.
Coming off stellar playoff performances, Janmark, Henrique, and Brown have their eyes set on driving the third line right back into the Stanley Cup Finals.
